The introduction of our 5 year warranty promise means that as a Centre you'll need to ensure you continually grow and develop and your team to match customer need.

Investing in an apprentice now will not only bring financial benefit but also a loyal member of staff trained the Lexus Way able to grow and develop with your Centre.

Costs and Responsibilities

The Academy is your automotive
recruitment partner

To ensure the smooth running and successful completion of the Apprenticeship, both the Centre and Lexus Academy need to accept responsibility for a number of activities.

The cost to enrol an apprentice on to the programme is a one off payment of £500.

Some Centres find retention policies of value in emphasising mutual commitment and creating loyalty to the Centre. These normally take the form of short term endowment policies which are funded by the Centre for the benefit of the Apprentice on completion of a specified number of years' employment - e.g. seven years. If the Apprentice leaves the Centre before this time, the benefit of the policy falls to the Centre.

Apprentice FAQs

How long is a Lexus apprenticeship?
Normally our apprenticeships last for three years.

Where will I stay?
Apprentices usually stay nearby in the Gateway Hotel, Nottingham. If you live locally you'll have the option of travelling from home each day.

What qualifications can I achieve?
Our apprenticeships are Advanced Apprenticeships and include 3 key skills, a technical certificate and NVQ at Levels 2 and 3.

How do I achieve these qualifications?
You'll be employed at a local dealerships to get practical experience of the motor trade and to work towards your NVQ qualification. You'll also attend training blocks at the Academy in Nottingham to further your theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Each apprentice is mentored by an Assessor.

Am I guaranteed a job after the apprenticeship is completed?
You will be employed from the beginning of your apprenticeship, and employment cannot be terminated because you have completed your qualification.

How will I get to the Academy, and do I pay for travel and food costs?
Travel and accommodation are arranged and paid for by your centre (dealership). A bus service to and from the Academy is provided by the hotel. Breakfast and evening meals are included in the hotel costs and there are restaurant facilities at the Academy at lunchtimes and break times.

How much money will I earn?
You will be paid a minimum of £2:50 per hour. If you work a normal 40 hour week you will be paid at least £100 each week during your first year.

Does all training take place in Nottingham? Or do I work in a local garage near to my home town and attend the Nottingham Training Centre on a set number of weeks each year?
The training for the qualification is based in Nottingham, at the Lexus National Academy. You will be employed by a garage and attend the Academy on block release; for example a service technician is for 2 weeks at a time.

Who pays the £44 (approx.) per night fee to stay in the Hotel in Nottingham?
The Hotel is the Gateway hotel in Nottingham. The £44 per shared room is paid by the centre in most cases.

Do I have to find a Lexus centre first that is willing to take on an apprentice?
You will have to be employed by a centre before you can join the Apprentice Academy. The Academy has a recruitment section on the website, where as a prospective apprentice you can fill out an application form on the site and if there are vacancies in their area, we will let you know about the vacancy.
You could also ask the local centre to see if they have any vacancies or view their website.

I've just finished school, when should I apply to the Apprentice scheme?
We start our recruitment year in February and students will normally start looking in April/May time of their leaving year.
