Following the success of a pilot scheme in 2009, we are now working with our Lexus Centres to achieve significant reductions in their energy use and reduce carbon emissions nationwide, following our Better Tomorrow Plan.

There are 3 Stages to the Plan; Building the foundations for a Better Tomorrow, monitoring and reducing our emissions, and being active in the community to contribute to it's prosperity.

Results from the 2009 pilot programme demonstrated the plan’s potential to achieve substantial environmental gains and have encouraged its implementation nationwide. The trial recorded savings of up to 20 per cent in electricity and gas usage, reducing the carbon footprint of each site by around 30 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

The structure of the Better Tomorrow Plan builds on Lexus’s Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, and is designed not only to deliver environmental benefits for Lexus and its Centres, but also to the wider community through education and communication of energy-saving best practice ideas. The plan has been in place since June 2011.

Each Centre has been assessed on its current energy using a targeted energy management and monitoring system. The system will help track a reduction in electricity and gas consumption. Training workshops held in June 2011 took place to promote best practice

Early results are very encouraging with the Lexus network reducing their carbon footprint by 14% on average.
