LS

DRIVING DYNAMICS

The new LS delivers a precise, smooth and rewarding driving experience. Elegantly poised, yet brilliantly responsive, exceptional dynamic control helps you negotiate even the most demanding situations safely.

A new multi-link air suspension, a rigid yet lightweight chassis and class-leading aerodynamics are all key, as is variable gear ratio steering. For the LS 600h models, permanent all-wheel drive transfers the increased power and torque with impeccable smoothness and precision.

Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is at the very heart of these safe and assured driving characteristics. The movie animation illustrates VDIM in action.

Outstandingly agile, confident and precise, the LS is one of the smoothest and most refined cars on the road today.

State-of-the-art Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, or VDIM

delivers assured, dynamic control to help you negotiate even the most demanding situations safely.

VDIM intelligently integrates all powertrain and electronic dynamic control systems,

by orchestrating each element to perform seamlessly with the others.

The networked application of these individual systems is pro-actively managed;

delivering a level of driving performance which could not be achieved if each element operated independently.

When accelerating on a partially slippery surface, for example,

VDIM anticipates an imbalance and progressively applies corrective measures, helping the driver maintain the desired trajectory.

If braking on a road surface with unequal grip, this unique system also optimises traction and straight-line steering control is maintained.

In the case of under-steer, when the front wheels start to lose grip in a sharp bend

VDIM instantaneously assesses the situation and seamlessly applies appropriate adjustments to help the driver control the LS smoothly.

When there is less traction than expected, such as cornering on a slippery surface

VDIM counteracts the imminent risks of over-steer, by applying suspension, steering and other appropriate adjustments,

either together or in the most effective sequence.
