HOW ELECTRIC CARS WORK

Discover the world of electric cars with Lexus.

An electric car or EV is a car that solely runs on electricity and uses a rechargeable battery to drive an electric motor to power the wheels.  Instead of refuelling with petrol you can simply recharge your battery by plugging into a charge point at home or at one of the many public charge points across the country.

GO FURTHER WITH CONFIDENCE

You could go further than you think with a Lexus electric car. Get in the driver’s seat and travel up to 196✝ miles (official test values) from city to city.

† Electric range shown is for UX 300e with 17” alloys. Electric range figures are provided for comparability purposes; only compare electric range figures with other cars tested to the same technical procedures. These figures may not reflect real life driving results. Electric range can vary significantly depending on a number of factors, including the accessories fitted (post-registration), driving style, conditions, speed and vehicle load.

MAKE YOUR BATTERY GO FURTHER

The range you can achieve in our electric cars can be enhanced with a few simple driving tips that could help to save money and reduce the energy required for your journey.

DRIVE INTELLIGENTLY

To help maximise your range, your car is designed to track performance and to seek to optimise how you drive. You can also alter driving modes, which can help to increase your range. This enhanced level of battery voltage control, together with the car’s advanced Battery Management System, can help you to achieve an extended driving range. However, simple things like correct tyre inflation and replacing air filters can help to extend a battery’s range.

Keep It Cool

Cars that spend a lot of time parked in hot conditions can experience faster rates of battery deterioration. Try to park in an area with some cover from the sun.

ELECTRIC BATTERY TECHNOLOGY

How long does the battery last?

Lexus has over 20 years of experience of advanced battery technologies through development of Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid technology, this knowledge has been used to develop large capacity Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery in the UX 300e.

This experience alongside careful monitoring and battery management to offer a standard 8-year/ 100,000 mile warranty (whichever comes first) on the battery of the new UX 300e. This is extendable to 10 years (or 600,000 miles, whichever comes first) with the Battery Health Check included in each service. This warranty is in addition to our standard 3 year / 60,000 mile manufacturer warranty for the vehicle.

Can batteries be recycled?

Importantly for the planet, when the UX 300e battery reaches the end of its life span, we have a take-back scheme to ensure it is recycled safely and responsibly. Find out more about our battery recyling policy.
