THE EVOLVED LEXUS DESIGN

REFINED LUXURY

The NX interior is designed with “functional beauty” in mind, from the unique ‘Tazuna’ cabin which provides an intuitive and connected driving experience, to the superior comfort for the driver and passengers. The exterior is cool, innovative and unmistakably confident.

DESIGNED WITH YOU IN MIND
  1. STRONG STANCE
    1. A Lexus NX driving on a road
      MAKE A DESIGN STATEMENT
Determined to create a powerful new look for the latest NX, our designers developed a more dynamic grille, with an integrated frame. As well as contributing to weight reduction, the design emphasises the car’s dynamic impression. The striking vertical design of the grille, in combination with triple slits at the bottom, provides enhanced cooling, while the ultra-slim LED headlights underline the Lexus L-motif of the daytime running lights.

      WHERE SHARP MEETS SMOOTH
Look at the NX side on and you’ll observe the fusion of sharpness and emotional attraction in the design. It’s a new approach, fusing two conflicting ‘tastes’ in a well-balanced mix. The NX’s surface design, which combines sharp edges with expansive, curved surfaces, gives the sense of high-precision quality co-existing with a warm, sensuous feel. The wheelbase expresses the low centre of gravity and excellent balance with 18” or 20” wheels.

    3. Rear view of the Lexus NX
      A STRIKING NEW ANGLE
The NX design team have greatly evolved the NX’s proportions and dynamic feel in a design that combines glamour and sharpness, the car's sophisticated character underlined by its high-tech rear look. The elongated LED light bar is a hallmark of Lexus Electrified design. Here a sharp, minimalist form gives the impression of simplicity and precision, reinforced by the distinctive new Lexus badge.

      DISTINCTIVE ALLOY WHEELS
Sporting a dark-grey metallic coating with machined details, the 18” wheel with 15-spoke design adds real flair to the NX, while the discreet dark-grey metallic finish perfectly complements the bold 20" wheel. Standard on Luxury grades, this 20-spoke wheel, with a striking dark-grey metallic coating and machined details, endows the NX with a look of unmistakable distinction.

      CRAFTED BY TAKUMI ARTISANS
The ergonomic front seats in the NX offer top-class support and comforts like heating and ventilation†. In order to provide proper ergonomic support around the waist, a concave shape was created in the seat sides. This reduces elbow contact when using the steering wheel, shift lever or the console lid. Among the sumptuous upholstery you sense the human hand: the quality which pervades every inch of the cabin can be attributed to our ‘Takumi’ craftspeople, their artistry honed over at least 15 years. BESPOKE ‘TAZUNA’ COCKPIT
The NX’s cockpit represents a bold evolution of our Tazuna concept. This brings together the driver’s position at the wheel and the precise arrangement of meters, controls and touchscreen to create a space where only small movements are required. The idea is inspired by the reins (“Tazuna”) which a rider uses to precisely control a horse.

The NX has next-generation Lexus Safety System + that features levels of protection never seen before. Proactive Driving Assist, for example, is a Lexus-first which uses Obstacle Anticipation Assist, Deceleration Assist and Steering Assist to decelerate and stop at a safe distance to make your driving even safer. This is in addition to an advanced Pre-Collision System which can detect motorcycles in daytime and bicycles/pedestrians are detected even at night.

      PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM
Alongside detecting motorcycles during daytime, the Lexus Pre-Collision System allows more potential collisions to be avoided, such as at right / left turns, and with cut-in traffic. It can also recognise collision risks with oncoming traffic or crossing pedestrians when making a turn at a junction. The ability to avoid an impact is increased by Emergency Steering Assist.

      DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL
This system uses the millimetre-wave radar sensor and a camera to detect the vehicle in front and maintain an appropriate distance. If the vehicle in front comes to a halt, the NX will stop too. When the vehicle moves off again, you will too. It quickly recognises traffic cutting in front and, in conjunction with Lane Trace Assist, follows a more natural line through bends.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Lexus NX is available as a Plug-in Hybrid with a pure-electric range of up to 44 miles** or as a Self-Charging Hybrid

ALL-ELECTRIC AT LOWER SPEEDS

When you start off and at lower speeds, the powerful front electric motor (and rear electric motor on All-Wheel Drive models) propels the NX 350h with electric power supplied by the battery. At this point you are enjoying near-silent and 100% electric driving for a short distance.

NEAR SILENT AT CRUISING SPEEDS

Lexus Self-Charging Hybrids are quiet and relaxing to drive. At higher speeds, the ultra-smooth 2.5-litre petrol engine cuts in quietly and receives assistance from the electric motor(s) when required. With engine running at optimal speed, surplus power can be used to charge the battery. Alongside low emissions and fuel consumption, this near perfect distribution of petrol and electric power also provides the extraordinary driving enjoyment which characterises the NX 350h.

RAPID LINEAR ACCELERATION

Lexus Self-Charging Hybrids are fun to drive. When you accelerate hard, the power of the electric motor(s) instantaneously supplements the NX’s 2.5-litre petrol engine. Together they deliver a potent surge of torque, providing rapid linear acceleration precisely when you need it.

REGENERATIVE BRAKING, NO PLUGGING IN

When decelerating, coasting, or when you come to rest, the petrol engine often turns off silently. On braking, or when you take your foot off the accelerator, regenerative braking harnesses your car’s kinetic energy (this is wasted in conventional cars). The NX 350h converts this into electrical energy for storage in the hybrid battery, together with power generated whilst driving at higher speeds, which means it never needs plugging in.

The Lexus NX is a mid-size luxury SUV crossover. The NX sits on a 2,690 mm wheelbase and is 4,660 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,670 mm high. Inside it’s spacious too. Developed for the NX models and installed under the rear seats, its high-performance lithium-ion batteries contribute to both the spacious interior and excellent driving performance.

Yes. The NX is equipped with the latest Lexus Link Connect system, operated via a 14” touchscreen which includes the “Hey Lexus” on-board assistant.

Yes. You can link your smartphone using wireless or wired connections for Apple CarPlay.

Yes. Smartphone integration is enabled using a wired link for Android Auto.

Both self-charging and plug in hybrids have a petrol engine and electric motor and can use them simultaneously or independently to maximise efficiency. However, the plug-in hybrid has a larger battery that can be recharged from an external source. This means that the plug-in hybrid can drive much further in EV mode using only its electric motors and, if the battery is depleted, it will operate as an efficient hybrid vehicle. Whereas plug-in hybrids can be charged from both a charging point or from capturing engine and braking energy, self-charging hybrids can only recharge using the latter.

Self-Charging Hybrid vehicles have both a petrol engine and electric motor. As the engine and motors have different power characteristics, the car’s systems use the optimum mix of power sources to ensure that it is operating as efficiently as possible at all times. For example, when driving slowly, it may only use the electric motors; when accelerating it may use both sources; whilst cruising it will constantly vary the mix of power between the two, possibly adding a little motor power if there is a gentle incline, reducing engine power and harvesting energy on downhill inclines; and whilst braking it will harvest the lost energy to recharge the battery.

Your actual charging cost depends on various factors, including where you charge, local utility rates, battery size and even the time of the day. Estimate your charging cost here.
