CHARGING YOUR CAR AT HOME
Charging your plug-in hybrid or electric car at home through a dedicated charger is efficient and convenient. Lexus HomeCharge, our EV home charger is a fast and connected way to charge.
WHY CHARGE YOUR ELECTRIC CAR AT HOME?
Charging your electric car at home is a cost-effective and convenient option. Most people choose to install a home EV charger for efficiency and ease of use.
By taking advantage of EV energy tariffs, which typically offer lower off-peak rates, you can charge overnight when the demand on the energy grid is at its lowest.
For many drivers, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles provide enough electric range to cover daily trips, whether it’s the school run or your daily commute.
When it’s time to recharge, simply plug in overnight, and you’ll wake up to a fully charged battery, with no need to visit a service station.

What do I need to install a home charger?
Off-street parking: A private off-street parking space, such as a driveway or garage, is essential for installing your own charger.
Freeholder permission: If you live in a rented property, you'll need to obtain permission from the freeholder before installation.
Electrical safety check: If you own or rent a property built before 2008, and are planning to install a Lexus HomeCharge, we will arrange for British Gas to check your electrics are up to standard free of charge. Not all properties are suitable for an EV charger, and some may require electrical work before installation.

^Indicative charge time, for comparison purposes only. Actual charging times may vary depending on various factors, including the selected vehicle (and battery option, if available), the age, type, condition and temperature of the charging unit and the battery, the starting charge, the power supply to and usage of the charger and the environmental conditions at the point of use. These figures may not reflect your real life driving results.
Charge times will be longer in colder weather and if battery temperature activates safeguarding technology. 150kW+ chargers are available in mainland Great Britain primarily on major arterial routes – see Zap Map for details. They are not yet available in Northern Ireland and availability is limited in Scotland, Wales and in rural areas.
