A Lexus Hybrid monitors your driving conditions and seamlessly controls the combination of power source (petrol engine and electric battery), making the optimum choice for you. But if you wish, you can control how you drive with 3 driving modes: ECO, Normal or Sport.
From start up, to acceleration, mid-journey, and deceleration, you can be the decision maker. For your whole journey, or just a part of it. Together, you and your vehicle consult to lower emissions or boost performance.
Normal mode ensures the optimal balance of fuel efficiency and engine performance. Sport mode brings you faster and more dynamic throttle response, for increased steering feel. And ECO mode moderates the throttle, engine power and climate settings for greater fuel efficiency.

Unlike other systems, Lexus Self-Charging hybrid can run purely on electric power at lower speeds. This means zero emissions, and greater efficiency. Competitor systems tend to have much smaller electric motors which only work alongside the petrol engine – they can’t power the car alone.
HOW FAR CAN LEXUS HYBRID CARS TRAVEL ON BATTERY POWER ALONE?
It depends on the level of battery charge, the driving conditions, and how heavily your car is loaded.
The UX model can travel up to 70mph in EV mode and the NX up to 40mph. Our hybrid system intelligently monitors the battery and keeps it charged. If you’re driving long distances or at faster speeds, the clever hybrid system will switch from the battery power source to the petrol engine.

CAN I LEAVE MY LEXUS HYBRID CAR FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME WITHOUT CHARGING THE BATTERY?

The advanced, compact battery is efficiently charged as you drive and through ECB-R (Electronically Controlled Braking-Regeneration). This smart technique captures energy when you brake, converting it to electricity to charge the battery.
CAN I USE MY LEXUS HYBRID CAR IN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS?
You can. Lexus Hybrids have exactly the same capabilities as a conventional car. As with any car, it’s still important to pay attention to the driving conditions, and take extra care when needed. Always avoid driving if there are severe weather warnings.

HOW LONG WILL MY LEXUS HYBRID CAR’S BATTERY LAST?
The hybrid battery is engineered to last a lifetime. All new Lexus hybrid cars come with 5 year or 60,000 mile battery cover as standard. Lexus vehicles are amongst the most economical and environmentally friendly available and hybrid battery recycling is important to us. Removing and disposing of a hybrid battery is done by a Lexus Authorised Repairer, and, under EU Directive 2006/66/EC, we aim to recycle over 50% of the weight a hybrid battery.
