Does the NX only come as a hybrid vehicle?
The Lexus NX is available as a Plug-in Hybrid with a pure-electric range of up to 40 miles** or as a Self-Charging Hybrid
How does the NX 350h hybrid work?
ALL-ELECTRIC AT LOWER SPEEDS
When you start off and at lower speeds, the powerful front electric motor (and rear electric motor on All-Wheel Drive models) propels the NX 350h with electric power supplied by the battery. At this point you are enjoying near-silent and 100% electric driving for a short distance.
NEAR SILENT AT CRUISING SPEEDS
Lexus Self-Charging Hybrids are quiet and relaxing to drive. At higher speeds, the ultra-smooth 2.5-litre petrol engine cuts in quietly and receives assistance from the electric motor(s) when required. With engine running at optimal speed, surplus power can be used to charge the battery. Alongside low emissions and fuel consumption, this near perfect distribution of petrol and electric power also provides the extraordinary driving enjoyment which characterises the NX 350h.
RAPID LINEAR ACCELERATION
Lexus Self-Charging Hybrids are fun to drive. When you accelerate hard, the power of the electric motor(s) instantaneously supplements the NX’s 2.5-litre petrol engine. Together they deliver a potent surge of torque, providing rapid linear acceleration precisely when you need it.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING, NO PLUGGING IN
When decelerating, coasting, or when you come to rest, the petrol engine often turns off silently. On braking, or when you take your foot off the accelerator, regenerative braking harnesses your car’s kinetic energy (this is wasted in conventional cars). The NX 350h converts this into electrical energy for storage in the hybrid battery, together with power generated whilst driving at higher speeds, which means it never needs plugging in.
How big is the Lexus NX?
The Lexus NX is a mid-size luxury SUV crossover. The NX sits on a 2,690 mm wheelbase and is 4,660 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,670 mm high. Inside it’s spacious too. Developed for the NX models and installed under the rear seats, its high-performance lithium-ion batteries contribute to both the spacious interior and excellent driving performance.
Does the Lexus NX have a voice assistant?

Does the Lexus NX have Apple CarPlay™?

What are the key differences between Self Charging Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid?
Both self-charging and plug in hybrids have a petrol engine and electric motor and can use them simultaneously or independently to maximise efficiency. However, the plug-in hybrid has a larger battery that can be recharged from an external source. This means that the plug-in hybrid can drive much further in EV mode using only its electric motors and, if the battery is depleted, it will operate as an efficient hybrid vehicle. Whereas plug-in hybrids can be charged from both a charging point or from capturing engine and braking energy, self-charging hybrids can only recharge using the latter.
How do self-charging hybrids work?
Self-Charging Hybrid vehicles have both a petrol engine and electric motor. As the engine and motors have different power characteristics, the car’s systems use the optimum mix of power sources to ensure that it is operating as efficiently as possible at all times. For example, when driving slowly, it may only use the electric motors; when accelerating it may use both sources; whilst cruising it will constantly vary the mix of power between the two, possibly adding a little motor power if there is a gentle incline, reducing engine power and harvesting energy on downhill inclines; and whilst braking it will harvest the lost energy to recharge the battery.

HEARTFELT HOSPITALITY
Enjoy our unique Japanese approach to hospitality: ‘Omotenashi’ is about anticipating a guest’s needs before they appear, and it’s a guiding principle for us at Lexus. You’ll see it in the welcome you receive at our Centres, but also in the technology inside our cars. Like the ability to set the temperature – or defrost the windscreen - from your smartphone.

ALL EYES ON THE HEAD-UP DISPLAY†
Vehicle data is projected in bright colour directly onto the windscreen via a large 10” Head-Up Display, which lets you check navigation, safety features, driving information and audio settings without taking your eyes off the road ahead. Its operation is seamless, thanks to touch switches on the steering wheel.
An exceptionally fast and responsive remote-controlled tailgate ensures convenience, especially when your arms are full of shopping. Keeping your hands clean, with the key in your pocket or bag, simply place your foot under the rear bumper to open or close the tailgate.
The reassurance that comes from knowing you will reach your destination on time, in the most enjoyable way. That’s luxury. Lexus Link Multimedia plays its part, with an intuitive touchscreen, seamless smartphone integration, advanced voice recognition and Lexus Link + app providing in-car and out-of-car services.

“HEY LEXUS”
Artificial Intelligence and the cloud work together in the hands-free Lexus Voice Assistant. The breakthrough “Hey Lexus” voice assistant understands natural language and the context of statements such as “I’m hungry” or “I’m cold” and can even recognise which front passenger is speaking. You can also use Lexus Voice Assistant to perform tasks like opening a window.
Welcome to the Lexus Link+ app, created to complement our unique ‘Omotenashi’ service experience with features like: Driving Analytics: Tracks your journeys and lets you record business trips; Find my Car: Locates and guides you back to your Lexus; eCare: Lets you manage the service and maintenance of your NX; Warning Lights: Explains the meaning of each warning light.
The NX has next-generation Lexus Safety System + that features levels of protection never seen before. Proactive Driving Assist, for example, is a Lexus-first which uses Obstacle Anticipation Assist, Deceleration Assist and Steering Assist to decelerate and stop at a safe distance to make your driving even safer. This is in addition to an advanced Pre-Collision System which can detect motorcycles in daytime and bicycles/pedestrians are detected even at night.
Alongside detecting motorcycles during daytime, the Lexus Pre-Collision System allows more potential collisions to be avoided, such as at right / left turns, and with cut-in traffic. It can also recognise collision risks with oncoming traffic or crossing pedestrians when making a turn at a junction. The ability to avoid an impact is increased by Emergency Steering Assist.
This system uses the millimetre-wave radar sensor and a camera to detect the vehicle in front and maintain an appropriate distance. If the vehicle in front comes to a halt, the NX will stop too. When the vehicle moves off again, you will too. It quickly recognises traffic cutting in front and, in conjunction with Lane Trace Assist, follows a more natural line through bends.
Alongside Lexus Safety System + and Lane Change Assist, which provides automatic lane change steering on the motorway, NX also features an optional Extended Safety Package. This includes Front Cross-Traffic Alert, which uses radar monitoring to warn the driver of traffic approaching from either side.
Linked to the car’s Blind Spot Monitor, the exclusive Safe Exit Assist function prevents occupants (front and rear) from opening their door in the event of traffic such as cars or cyclists approaching from the rear.
