LEXUS WINTER TYRES
Fitting winter tyres prepares you for whatever the weather may bring. Winter tyres are made of a compound that remains supple in low temperatures. They feature deep treads to disperse water and slush and also have numerous small slits that improve grip during stopping, starting and cornering and significantly reduce your car’s stopping distances.
When the temperature drops below 7°C, the tread compound in normal tyres begins to harden. This reduces your car’s grip on the road and increases stopping distances. Lexus Winter Tyres use a special rubber compound and tread design to combat this, providing a safer alternative.
This combination enables winter tyres to adapt across a range of cold weather driving conditions on roads that are wet, snowy or icy.

TYRE MAINTENANCE
Keeping ahead of your tyre maintenance not only protects your safety, but decreases the likelihood of costly repairs in the future. Tyres in good condition are also the most economical, by ensuring the optimal level of fuel consumption.
By spotting the signs of tyre wear and addressing them, you can avoid longer braking distances, aquaplaning and tyre blowouts. Common indicators include low tyre pressure, partial tread, vibrations in the steering wheel, unusual noises, a tendency to pull to one side and poor handling on wet roads.
If you recognise any of these signs, then visit your nearest Lexus Centre for a tyre check. To prevent tyre-related problems, Lexus experts recommend that you test your tyre pressure regularly for any changes, ensure that your tread depth is never below the legal minimum of 1.6mm and inspect your tyres regularly for any cuts, wear or embedded objects.
SIX WAYS TO TELL IF YOUR TYRES NEED ATTENTION
TREAD TEST
Place a 20p coin in the main tread grooves of your tyre (within the central three-quarters of the tread). If the outer band of the coin is hidden by the rubber, then your tread is above the legal limit of 1.6mm.
TYRE MATCH
Check that your tyres match by looking at the tread pattern and make of each tyre. Make sure the tread and patterns look exactly the same so that you have well balanced grip.
WHEEL WOBBLE
If your steering wheel vibrates at around 40-50mph, one or more of your wheels may need balancing or replacing.
STEERING PULL
If your car seems to be slowly veering in one direction then either your tracking is out, your tyre pressures are unequal or the treads on the front tyres don’t match.
SIDEWALL DAMAGE
Check the sides of the tyres for any cracks, splits or blisters; this usually happens on older tyres and it means they need replacing.
TYRE MARKINGS
The markings on its sidewall can be confusing but contain important information about the tyre.
